As first reported Wednesday by Promo Marketing, office supply company Blueline/Rediform Inc. will acquire the SunGraphix line of diaries, planners and journals from top 50 promotional products distributor Geiger. Harolde Savoy, CEO of Dominion Blueline Inc. and Rediform Inc., and Gene Gegier, CEO of Geiger and SunGraphix, jointly announced the agreement on March 6, with the closing scheduled for Friday, March 29.
“SunGraphix diaries and journals have been the American gold standard, on par with the best made anywhere in the world,” Savoy said. “They fit our production skills and complement our product line nicely.”
Blueline/Rediform has had a large presence presence in the retail and office products markets for nearly a century. Founded in 1917, Blueline is a North American group of companies manufacturing and distributing innovative, superior quality office products designed to simplify life. Their product line includes well-known diaries, planners, notebooks, business forms, and accounting supplies.
“The Blueline/Rediform group is truly excited about entering the promotional market with the acquisition of SunGraphix,” Savoy explained. “We are getting a great group of very experienced people who will form the core of our new division and will have the ability to grow this division for many years to come.”
Geiger announced it was closing its printing and manufacturing business, which includes the SunGraphix line as well as the Farmers’ Almanac, in January 2013. The company pledged at that time to find a home for its SunGraphix products, and in February sold its Sullivan Daily Date calendar and 12-sheet calendar pad collections to Warwick Publishing Company. Blueline/Rediform will acquire the remainder of the SunGraphix line, which includes diary, journal and planner collection.
“We know the Blueline team well, having participated with them for years in the world trade group Diary Publishers International,” Geiger said. “They are skilled manufacturers committed to the business. There is no other firm we know better qualified to take on the SunGraphix lines.”
Both companies explained that detailed transition plans will be announced shortly to assure a smooth transition of all customer order. Geiger also announced that it is currently in negotiations to find a firm to assume production of the Farmers’ Almanac.
