Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty hasn’t even been in town that long, and he’s already pretty much the mayor of the city. (That’s saying a lot considering Philly is already home to another beloved mascot.) There’s just something about Gritty though that resonates with Philadelphians, even the ones who have never watched a minute of Flyers hockey.
Mayor Gritty visited the Liacouras Center at Temple University, which has been acting as a vaccine clinic, not only to donate $10,000 to the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, but also to donate some stickers for vaccine recipients.
Featuring the orange hero with a band aid on his own arm and the message “I took my shot,” these instantly became the must-have sticker for everyone with a vaccine appointment in Philly. Workers at the clinic were also rocking “I took my shot” T-shirts that matched the stickers, and Gritty wore a face shield with a custom Gritty pattern on it.

The vaccine rollout has put stickers front and center again for people over the age of 10. Everyone loves stickers, but they didn’t quite have that must-have demand until it meant that you were able to mostly go about your normal life. Now, everyone’s all sticker-ed up.
We did a full rundown of some great vaccine sticker designs, too. And with so many possibilities for design, like incorporating the health care company running the clinic, using local imagery and more, there were some really good ones.
But, none of them had Gritty on it. Yes, we’re biased here, but you can’t deny the power of a sticker that not only shows off someone’s recently-vaccinated status, but also reps their favorite team and mascot.
Go Flyers. Go science. Go stickers.
