Halls & Company, Brooklyn Park, Minn., manufacturer of ID Line, has announced its sponsorship of the Green Girls Robotics Team, based out of Eagan, Minn.
The Green Girls Robotics Team is a robotics team, made up of girls entering ninth grade, competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).
In 2010, the team started competing in the FIRST Lego League (FLL)—placing first at regions and sixth in the combined divisions at state in its last year—before moving up to competing in FTC in 2013. The team also does community outreach work in the off-season to increase girls’ awareness of science and robotics.
For its 2015-16 robotics season, the Green Girls Robotics Team is working to fundraise a trip to Beijing to compete and spread the word about science and robotics.
“We liked the fact that [Green Girls] is an all-girl team in a STEM related project, and by partnering with them we hope we can give the girls an idea of what they can do with their expertise,” said Beverly Napurski, CAS, vice president of marketing for Halls & Company. “Natural application of what they’re learning in the real world for manufacturing makes for an interesting partnership,” Napurski added.
