Effective October 1, Richmond, Virginia-based MeadWestvaco Corp. (MWV) announced 20-year industry-veteran Dr. Ted Lithgow will serve as the new president of MWV Healthcare.
In this role Lithgow will focus on leveraging the success of MWV Healthcare’s adherence and compliance packaging solutions, global manufacturing capabilities and efficient supply chain to accelerate the commercialization of new products and capitalize on growth opportunities in fast-growing areas of the world such as India and China.
“The global MWV Healthcare business is focused on meeting the critical needs of the pharmaceutical and health-care sector, including improving patient adherence and speed-to-market, while cost-effectively adding value in the supply chain,” said Bruce Thomas, senior vice president, global market strategy and emerging markets. “Ted’s market knowledge and leadership will enhance our ability to service our customers throughout the pharmaceutical product life cycle—from early development to clinical trials to drug commercialization, and he will contribute greatly to our ultimate focus on improving patient outcomes.”
Lithgow joins MWV from Schering Plough Corporation where he most recently served as group vice president of the global prescription business, and general manager of a respiratory-care joint venture with Merck. He has held senior-level marketing, business development, commercial and global
operations positions at Warner Lambert, Wyeth and Pharmacia.
