We have two drinkware recalls to report this week, as both Pier 1 Imports and Michaels recalled mugs due to a burn hazard.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) , Pier 1 is recalling more than 15,000 of its “chalk note mugs” because they can shatter when they are filled with hot liquid.
No injuries have been reported, but the company received eight reports of mugs cracking when filled with hot liquid.
Michaels is recalling its Celebrate It ceramic travel mugs after receiving a report of the lid not securely fitting, causing liquids to leak from the bottom when tilted. Also, it doesn’t have a silicone hand wrap, so users could burn their hands.
For both recalls, customers should immediately stop using the mugs, and contact the company for a full refund.
