The Elegance at Hershey is a premier automotive event, featuring collector vintage and antique cars, modeled after the European Concours d’Elegance. On June 12, vintage car owners gathered on the manicured lawns of the Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pa., for special guest judges critiques of the participants’ cars.
The Elegance at Hershey also raised funds in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the American Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum and AACA Library & Research Center. Award-winning participants received a variety of awards, supplied by R.S. Owens, Chicago, including the Best of Show Governor’s Cup, awarded by the governor of Pennsylvania.
All participants received the Elegance at Hershey Kiss Trophy, a replica of the iconic chocolate drop candy. The original model was sculpted by hand to recreate each fold and crease in the foil package. When completed, the replica awards were hand cast by the R.S. Owens team from zinc with a silver electroplated finish. A strip of satin brass was etched with the Hershey’s brand and then rolled to resemble the paper strip placed at the peak of each chocolate drop. The finished Hershey’s Kiss was mounted to a Stonecast black base to create this replica of one of the world’s most iconic shapes.
