Selco, a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based promotional supplier company, joined regional association PPAS and the Tulsa Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce to celebrate Selco’s 75th Anniversary on May 19, 2010. The open house featured a factory tour of Selco, a history of Selco’s 75 years in watches, a catered BBQ lunch and a ribbon cutting to commemorate 75 years in business. The event kicked off with a presentation to distributors about Selco’s line and a chance to visit with representatives of other factories including Stan Dohen of the Allen Company and Tom Carpenter of Corvest.
Other attendees for the event were Dan Boll, representing The Movado Group, and Jan Foreman, national sales manager of special markets for Technomarine Watch Company. Both The Movado Group and Technomarine Watch Company are current partners with Selco. The Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony included a stirring speech by Selco president and PPAS board member, Mark Abels. In his speech, Abels thanked everyone for their continued support. “The response to the open house is amazing. We really appreciate distributors, association members and friends from around the community showing their support and congratulations. We could not have made it these past 75 years with out them and look forward to the next 75,” said Abels.
In addition to the guest speakers, the one-day event also included door prizes featuring a drawing for a free Selco Geneve watch valued at over $250.00. The Image Group’s Ginny Trost was the winner of the Selco Geneve lady’s Titan watch. “It was a very nice open house and I really enjoyed the tour, it was very informative and I now have a new appreciation of what all is involved in your business at Selco,” said Trost.
