HanesBrands (asi/59528) is celebrating a milestone birthday for its Hanes For Good program.

The program, through which the apparel supplier has donated more than 6 million articles of clothing to hundreds of partner organizations supporting the unhoused community in the U.S., is commemorating its 15th anniversary.

The program started with socks – one of the most requested items from homeless shelters – and has grown to a national initiative delivering not just socks (though Hanes has donated more than 4 million pairs of socks) but T-shirts, underwear (including period underwear) and sweats, too.

“As we mark 15 years of Hanes For Good, we are reminded that small gestures – like a new pair of socks or a fresh T-shirt – can have a big impact,” said Kelsey Leetzow, brand marketing manager for HanesBrands. “Our mission remains the same: to bring a little comfort to those who need it most. Thanks to our partners and the community, we’re able to support thousands across the U.S. every year, making a meaningful difference in their lives.”

HanesBrands (asi/59528) began by donating socks but has expanded the program into other articles of clothing like T-shirts and underwear.

The supplier’s most recent initiative under the Hanes For Good umbrella came after Hurricanes Milton and Helene in 2024, when HanesBrands delivered more than 20,000 pieces of apparel to those affected by the storms.

All told, HanesBrands has worked with 485 partner organizations over the program’s 15-year span, including Roof Above, whose Vice President of Unsheltered Services Randall Hitt, voiced his gratitude for the Hanes For Good program.

“For some people experiencing homelessness, their feet are their only reliable source of transportation,” Hitt said. “The comfort of a new pair of socks can have such a positive impact as they navigate their journey forward.”

HanesBrands says it’s not stopping now, as the greater sustainability goal for the program is to help 10 million people by 2030.
