Even in death, Grumpy Cat is still grumpy. There’s something comforting about that, isn’t there? Even from the little kitty cat afterlife, Grumpy Cat (OK, actually her owner) is suing people for selling knockoff Grumpy Cat merchandise.
Grumpy Cat Limited, the business set up for all things GC, is going after online retailers selling items like apparel, hats and drinkware with her face or name anywhere but the official webstore, according to the Evening Standard. And even though the cat is no longer with us, the brand is strong. The @realgrumpycat Instagram page still boasts 2.7 million followers, with posts on a regular basis.
In addition to pictures of Grumpy Cat, the feed is home to plenty of GC-branded merchandise. So, it makes sense why her owner and the company she set up want to protect the intellectual property.

Grumpy Cat is no longer with us, having shuffled off this mortal coil and embarked to the spirit plane. But, in her death, her spirit of frowning upon other things lives on through this litigation. Long may she live in our hearts and in our courtrooms.
