Though many businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy were able to reopen today, there are some that still remain closed. Below is yesterday’s list of closed businesses, amended to note which have opened and which have remained closed as of 3:15 p.m. EST today. Messages from the closed companies have been posted when available.
Companies that were closed, but have now opened:
- Admints & Zagabor—Bellmawr, N.J.
- Artistic Toy—Allentown, Pa. (phones are still down, Internet and electricity are up)
- ASI—Trevose, Pa.
- Bodek and Rhodes—Philadelphia, Pa. (open since Tues., however, per the company’s Facebook: “TO SOME EXPERIENCING WEBSITE INTERRUPTION: Many of you are accessing our website just fine. But to manage through the hurricane, our web hosts rerouted our website during the outage. Some of you are still experiencing problems. Please know we are continuing to work on this and have been notified it will take 36 hours for the Bodek and Rhodes website to resume working properly (Thursday Nov 1, 2012). In the meantime, please call our headquarters to assist with your orders, which is fully staffed to help you: 800-523-2721. Open 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Thank you!”
- Garyline—Bronx, N.Y.
- Jetline (South Carolina factory is open for business. However, there are service delays in the North East due to the hurricane. For more info on affected delivery zones, check the UPS Service Delay Information or FedEx Service Delay Information.)
- Peerless Umbrella—Newark, N.J. (Open but without phone or Internet. A temporary email has been set up at peerlessumbrella@gmail.com.)
- Picnic Plus—West Chester, Pa.
- SanMar—Warehouse in Robbinsville, N.J. (Warehouse is open but the company did have to issue an early order cutoff time at 1:00 p.m. ET today in order to contend with communications and transportation challenges in the region.)
- Seven Sourcing—West Berlin, N.J.
Companies that have remained closed:
- Points of Light—Fairfield, N.J. It’s day three of no power at Points of Light in Fairfield, New Jersey. The building and contents suffered no damage, but without lights, we can’t do too much. We have key personnel on-site and are staging production for immediate resumption ask soon as power is restored. Folks have been very understanding and many have asked what they can do to help out. Our response, “Stay safe, help others around you, donate to the Red Cross, and send us orders.” To those less fortunate, you are in our thoughts. —Scott A. Nussinow, MAS, Executive Vice President
- Prime Line—Bridgeport, Conn. Due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, Prime Line is without power or phone service and is closed. Orders scheduled to ship today and earlier this week will be delayed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working closely with state and local officials to resolve the situation.
