To proactively assure product safety, Visstun, Las Vegas, recently underwent Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) as well as Packaging Quality Systems and Product Safety Inspection (food safety) testing at its drinkware products and manufacturing facility. The results were scores of 965 out of 1000 (900+ is considered excellent) and 98.72 out of 100 (95+ is rated excellent) on the respective evaluations.
These third-party audits were conducted by ASI Food Safety Consultants, a provider of food safety and good manufacturing practices audits, seminars, international auditing programs, and HACCP design and validation.
HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
The Packaging Quality Systems and Product Safety Inspection is conducted over eight hours and includes evaluation of quality systems, pest control, operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance and repair, cleaning programs and security. To maintain certification in both areas, Visstun must recertify every year.
“With the number of product recalls increasing in recent years, product safety is of prime concern for us and our customers,” said Ed Hamilton, Visstun president. “As a domestic manufacturer of drink cups and containers for large food and beverage clients, we control all aspects of the production process and can document our safety protocols to satisfy the product safety requirements of all our distributors’ customers.”
