Comic Con 2013: The Promos

San Diego Comic Con was this weekend. It’s one of the biggest entertainment conventions in the world, and is famously packed with giveaways for attendees. Here are a couple links to some of the cooler promos given away I could find this a.m.:

Warner Brothers Bags-With-Capes

Warner Brothers has done tote giveaways for many, many years at Comic Con, so much so that they became the official bags for the show a few years ago. This year, they fitted a bunch of their totes with removable capes and also made them wearable as backpacks. You can read more about the totes, as well as see a whole slideshow of all the bags, at this article on Variety.com.

io9’s Comic Con Preview
You’ll have to scroll down a bit, but io9’s comic con preview piece has a short spot on some of this year’s giveaways. (Look for the picture of the dog with Yoda ears.) There are also links in that section to articles on the giveaways of years past.

Comics Beat’s Total Show Coverage
Comics Beat has organized all its show coverage in one place. Most of it is newsy and about upcoming movie and book releases, but some of the photography might be interesting if you’re curious about what the show floor looks like. Between all the cosplay and celebrity shots, you can see some cool booth setups and what some companies were using for signage or how they were decorating their displays. See the “In Photos” section at the beginning of the Comics Beat article.

That’s it for this week guys! Thanks for reading and see you all next week!

MONDAY MIKE FACT: I have never been to comic con, and consider it one of my life’s biggest failures.

  1. Comic Con is an awesome experience where event attendees get some of the best schwag available. Plus, it is in a fantastic city. I used to love riding the Trolley to work in downtown during Comic Con and setting next to Wonderwoman and Princess Leia.

Companies have to be all in for promos at an event like this because there is so much creativity. The basics just will not cut it.
