Three Days, Three Promotions

Hello and welcome back to the office (at least for now). The 2012 trade show season began with an optimistic start in Las Vegas, as Kyle Richardson pointed out. Hopefully suppliers and distributors will bring that positive outlook to the rest of 2012’s shows. To get you inspired for the travel-heavy months ahead, I listed three of the most notable and noticeable promotions at The PPAI Expo. Look forward to more of this promotional creativity as the trade show season continues.

1. Chapstick
Upon arriving at The Mandalay Bay Convention Center, show attendees and exhibitors were directed to pick up their badges. With each badge came chapstick from Leashables by OraLabs. Desert air is dry and you are talking, eating and drinking nonstop for three days, so the chapstick was a necessity. I found myself taking it with me when the day ended and I no longer needed my badge.

2. Bunny Ears
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its children’s wear line Rabbit Skins, L.A. T Sportswear Inc. gave bunny ears to everyone who stopped by their booth. Everyone who wore the ears had the chance to win prizes like iPads and other electronics. Bunny ears flooded the show floor and the L.A. T Sportswear Inc. booth was packed.

3. T-shirts
Heritage Sportswear Inc. accelerated standard T-shirt promotions by filling a car with T-shirts. Everyone who stopped by their booth filled out a card with their guess of how many T-shirts were in the car. The person with the closest guess won the car. A complimentary T-shirt was given to each guesser, with the chance to win gas cards if a Heritage employee saw the person in the T-shirt on the show floor.

Don’t agree with my assessment of the promotions or you want to add more to the list? Let me know by emailing me at [email protected] or commenting on my blog here or on Facebook.
