Want More Sales? Sell Labels Into This 26% CAGR Market

Expanding into sales of printed labels? Consider selling electronics labels, both for traditional electronics and the growing market of eco-friendly ones. Overall, the durable labels market, including electrical labels, is on a strong growth track, with a compound annual growth (CAGR) of 5.51% over the next decade. The sub-market of eco-friendly electronics is growing even faster.

According to Precedence Research, the global green electronics manufacturing market size was expected to hit $20 billion in 2024 and is anticipated to reach $200 billion by 2034. This is a mind-bending CAGR of 25.8% over the forecast period.

As consumers’ appetite for computers, cell phones, lighting (and any other product requiring electrical components) shows no sign of slowing, the market for the labels applied to these products is growing, too.

Examples of products needing electrical labels include:

  • Circuit boards
  • Electrical fuses
  • Electrical breakers
  • Receptacle covers and light switch covers
  • Lighting components

Electrical labels typically include details such as the voltage, current, wattage, frequency and other specifications relevant to the safe and proper use of the device. Electrical labels are also required by law.

What Are Green Electronics?

Of course, any CAGR of 26% is going to jump out more than 5.1%. So what are “green electronics”?  These are electronics and electrical devices and components designed, produced, and intended to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. This includes being designed with non-toxic materials, being manufactured out of recyclable parts, and requiring less energy consumption during use.

This is a market fueled by consumer demand. For example, a survey from Specright found that 71% of consumers planned to make more sustainable purchase decisions in 2024.

This is great news for resellers. Whether green or not, every electronic device needs an electrical label.

Can’t Buy Them Off-the-Shelf

But you can’t buy electrical labels off the shelf. Because of the environments in which electronics live (think about the conditions in a laundry room, kitchens, and basements), you’ll need a trusted supplier. Electrical labels must be tough—able to withstand moisture, UV, gasoline splashes, corrosive chemicals and other harsh environmental conditions—and use an adhesive that matches the substrate on which they will be adhered.

Some products may require UL-certification, as well.

While it might take working with a trade-only supplier to learn the market, consumers’ appetite for anything electronic, especially those that offer sustainability features, isn’t going away anytime soon. Whether you sell traditional electrical labels or target the “green” market, electronics give your team a rapidly growing market to sell into.
